2025 Tracking Seminar

Tracking Trainer Course

June 2nd-13th

$1000.00 CAD

We will spend two full weeks learning tracking from day one, up to a finished dog. To do this we have access to multiple types of terrain, 1500 acres, and over 20 dogs of all ages and experience levels to work with. You will see day one for a dog, as well as dogs at different stages through to the successful street dog. We will also cover problem solving, line handling, dog selection, reading the environment, and helping teams be successful on the street.

The Trainer Course is meant as a spot for a department handler or trainer to come and learn, to take this knowledge back to help other teams. Trainer spots do not include bringing a dog, to ensure that the trainer can focus on learning all aspects of the instruction side. We will have dogs available to work, should that benefit you, and we will have other teams entered to observe.

Tracking Intensive Course

June 2-6

June 9-13

$500 CAD per week

The Tracking Intensive Course goes hand in hand with our trainer course. This course is designed for a tracking team to attend (both handler and dog) to spend a week improving current tracking skills, starting a new dog, or problem solving issues you may be having.

You can take one or both weeks, the second week will not be a repeat of the first but it will be a continuation in skills as you build on the early work.

Whether you're starting a brand new dog from scratch, you're in early stages of training, or your a validated team on the street that wants to improve, you'll find immense value in spending a week or two with us!

Jamie Chartrand has worked in law enforcement for thirty years. Twenty of those as a K9 handler for his agency working three dual purpose patrol dogs while carrying the role as both a use of force and firearms instructor. Currently Jamie is his K9 unit’s trainer and supervisor, and is handling his third dog.

Jamies’ passion into the world of tracking dogs has helped him throughout his career during numerous tracking arrests. Often you will hear Jamie compare scent to smoke, referencing the similarities of how human odor spreads throughout the environment. Jamies philosophy is building a solid foundation and creating a game of anticipation where the dog values the track, setting the dog and handler up for success.

Located in Sask, Canada and without the use of larger department tools such as aircraft, tracking has been the most important craft to master. Dogs are first and foremost a locating tool, so he has dedicated the entirity of his handling career to learning and improving this skill set. Over the last few years it's become clear that good tracking instruction can be hard to come by. Here is your chance to work with a handler who has started from square one, has worked multiple dogs, and come across nearly every tracking challenge possible.
